Job Description Job Title : Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator / System Administrator Department : Operations Reports To : IT Department Head FLSA Status : Exempt Employee Status : Full-Time Normal Work Schedule : Regular work week NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION LIMS Administrator should be able to ensure that LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is functioning properly. They will be responsible for maintaining user security, performing system maintenance, conducting training for new staff, troubleshooting, and will be a liaison with other IT department staff and external vendors. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in LIMS administration, healthcare IT, ISDS, programing, etc. is required Certifications : HIPAA Certification required or to be obtained. (Training provided onsite) Work Experience : Experience in LIMS administration with SQL database experience preferred. Experience in the integration engine, HL7 (Health Level Seven) interface, is preferred. Special Skills : Must exhibit a high degree of interpersonal and effective communication skills. Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality Advanced computer skills required. JOB FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL- Ensure LIMS is functioning properly; Work with IT Systems Admin to ensure correct database function and backup; Maintain local user security by creating user profiles and setting access rights; Perform system maintenance and add or modify new tests, drop down lists, or message codes inside the program; Create custom adhoc reports from provided SQL statements; Develop and maintain HL7 interfaces between various healthcare IT systems (eg EMR/EHR) Conduct training for new staff or new functionalities inside the company; Working collaboratively in cross-functional teams; Liaising with customers, staff and suppliers; Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Assist the company and appropriate staff during various audits and assessments of operations. MARGINAL- Provide courteous and prompt service to all internal and external clients. Prioritize and address requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that client confidentiality is assured. Identify opportunities and recommend methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, eg expense management. Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Assist co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orient new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
