Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is seeking a full-time 10-month assistant professor to be the founding program director of a health promotion & wellness program housed within the School of Arts & Sciences who would also be appointed as coordinator of the a new health promotion & wellness undergraduate major to being accepting students for the Fall 2017 semester. The successful applicant will be expected to (a) teach 9 credit hours/semester (including courses in health promotion, health education methods, and other related courses - eg, human sexuality, substance abuse prevention, and/or healthy lifestyles); (b) refine and implement the new health & wellness degree curriculum; (c) be active in service to the institution, including student recruitment, community, and/or his or her profession; and (d) work collegially as a member of the School of Arts & Sciences in advancing interdisciplinary experiences for students. Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award doctorate, master's, baccalaureate and associate degrees. Qualifications + A master's degree in health promotion & wellness or a related discipline is required. + Evidence of effective teaching is required (ie student evaluations, peer evaluations, etc.). + Minimum of two years (full-time or part-time) experience teaching health and/or health promotion-related courses in a college/university setting and/or two years (full-time or part-time) professional experience in other settings such as school, worksite, community, and/or clinical. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in a related discipline, CWP/CHES/MCHES certification, evidence of teaching a variety of health education courses, record of scholarly achievement in the discipline, and experience in program development and assessment.
